Moms Are Not Funny

Martha O'Neill, the Queen's purse

Episode Summary

Jen and Christine interview Toronto comedian and voice-over actor Martha O'Neill. Martha is a true delight, proponent of women in comedy and is not someone you want to hangout with when she's been drinking cider.

Episode Notes

Martha O’Neill’s wry, often edgy comedy is at odds with her laid-back, likeable stage presence; a combination which has made her an audience favourite wherever she performs.

This Toronto native spent the first 10 years of her comedy career performing improv and sketch, but shifted her focus to stand-up 16 years ago and hasn’t looked back since.

She performs regularly at the Absolute Comedy chain of clubs, at corporate/private events and has performed all over Canada, and as far away as Dublin and London. Television appearances include a stand-up special, “No Kidding” on iChannel, “The Mom Show” on the Slice Network and “Come Dine With Me Canada” on W Network. She is also a busy voice actor and former on-air personality at 105.9 The Region (serving York Region).

Martha was nominated for a 2009 Canadian Comedy Award for “Best Stand- Up Newcomer”, has competed in both the 2010 and 2012 “World Series of Comedy” in Las Vegas and was a performer in the 2013 She Devil Comedy Festival in New York City.

From 2013-2018, Martha was the Executive Producer of SheDot Festival (Toronto’s Festival of Funny Women) and continues to produce shows highlighting women in comedy.

She recently released her first comedy album “Fine Big Girl”, available everywhere!
